In reality there is no way to stop bits from copying your content. It is an unfortunate issue we all have to deal with online. our website content gets copied on a regular basis.
Disabling the right-click on your site won’t stop bots from stealing your content! It annoys your visitors and those that do scrape your content from the browser would probably know how to disable that within the browser!
Bots works by bots scraping your RSS feed. This can be minimized by limiting the content in your feed to post snippets.
Do the websites stealing your content look like that’s all they do is steal other people’s content?
Maybe! I don’t know, Why?
Let’s discuss how one can prevent content theft via bots on their websites?
So here is a burning question for discussion with us?
OP: we’ve noticed a sharp uptick in theft on our site, where bots will copy our article and repaste it onto their own site, crediting a fake author in the process. I’m sure these sites don’t get a lot of traffic, but we do want to prevent it from happening. Is there a way to better protect our content?
We get notified of the thefts via the comments in WordPress, so it seems the bots take the article and hyperlink it somehow, so it gets pinged as a comment. Perhaps there’s a way to not give permission in these situations?
Nbloglinks: There are several content protection plugins available for WordPress that can help protect your content from being stolen. Here are a few options:
- Copyright Proof: This plugin creates a unique digital fingerprint for each post on your site and tracks when it is used elsewhere on the web. If your content is stolen, you can use the fingerprint to prove that you are the original owner and take legal action if necessary.
- WP Content Copy Protection: This plugin adds a warning message to copied content and can also disable right-click, text selection, and the ability to copy and paste.
- WP Content Protector: This plugin adds a warning message to copied content and can also add a link back to the original article to help deter thieves.
- Content Thief: This plugin tracks when your content is used on other sites and sends you an email notification. It also includes a feature to automatically add a link back to the original article to help deter thieves.
plus you can also add a copyright notice to your site, or even use a Digital fingerprinting services which can create a unique identifier for your content and track when it is used elsewhere on the web. If your content is stolen, you can use this identifier to prove that you are the original owner and take legal action if necessary. you can also use DMCA to help you get the infringing content removed and deter future theft.
OG: I would only suggest trying to create a strong authority in your niche. This will ensure even if people or bots steal your content, you will still stand out.
OP: digital fingerprint may be the way to go, my plan (personal) won’t allow plugins, which is unforunate as I’m still a paying customer.
I’ve been going ballistic with the DMCA over the last 24hrs, seems to have stopped now but yesterday was getting notifications every few hours about a new article being linked

Our Assessment on Prevent content Theft By Bots!
Digital fingerprinting is a technique that can be used to create a unique identifier for digital content, such as an article or image. This identifier can be used to track when the content is used elsewhere on the web and to prove ownership if the content is stolen.
There are several WordPress plugins that offer digital fingerprinting functionality, including plugins shown above, you will need to install and activate the plugin on your WordPress site. Once the plugin is activated, it will automatically create a unique digital fingerprint for each post on your site. You can then use the plugin’s dashboard to track when your content is used on other sites and take action if necessary.
There are also other digital fingerprinting services available that you can use to create and track digital fingerprints for your content. These services typically offer more advanced features and may be a good option if you have a large volume of content that you need to protect.
It’s worth noting that digital fingerprinting is just one of many tools that you can use to protect your content from being stolen. It can be a useful addition to other content protection measures, such as adding a copyright notice, using a content protection plugin, or using the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) to take legal action against content thieves.
